Discover the wines of San Benito County

San Benito County covers approximately 1,396 square miles ranging in elevation from near sea level to over 5,000 feet, has a population of over 56,000, and is bordered to the north by Santa Clara and  Santa Cruz counties, by Merced and Fresno counties to the east, and by Monterey County on the west and south.

Hollister, the county seat, is approximately 95 miles south of San Francisco, 45 miles inland from Monterey, and 300 miles north of Los Angeles.

Explore San Benito Wine Country and  learn about the wineries, grapes varieties, climates, and appellations (Mt. Harlan, Paicines, Cienega Valley and Lime Kiln Valley). Our region is well known for it's Syrah and Pinot Noir, but also produces excellent Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Viognier and more.

For those interested in visiting San Benito, you will find information about our highly acclaimed wine events and festivals held throughout the year.    A  San Benito wine map (guide to wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, lodging and attractions) showing one of California's world-class wine regions is available on this site.

With its unsurpassed quality of life, temperate year-round climate, remarkable variety of landscapes, and proximity to the myriad recreational, educational and cultural opportunities of the San Francisco Bay Area, San Benito County is a wonderful place to call home or visit anytime.
